The field portability and durability of the SPM spectrometers make them an excellent tool for field spectroscopy.  The SPM spectrometers run on USB power with no additional power required.  Ewa Wegrzyn of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland makes use of the SPM002-D in her research of UV reflectance of bird feathers.  In these pictures she uses the SPA-RP-SMA-200-U reflectance probe along with the SPL-1DH compact Deuterium-Halogen light source and externally triggers with the  SPA-BREAKOUT-1 breakout circuit board for SPM spectrometers.
